Wood Burning Fireplaces and Fireplace Inserts

The Fireplace Place offers a wide selection wood burning fireplaces and EPA rated fireplace inserts from these manufacturers:

44eliteartisan_sm.jpgWood is the traditional fireplace fuel. If you have a reliable supply of good quality, seasoned firewood, consider the Fireplace Xtrordinair 36 Elite or 44 Elite fireplace. Let's consider the benefits of these wood burning fireplaces. Wood is a renewable resource, sustainable in production, that is plentiful in most areas across the U.S. Wood provides a hot fire and enchanting, everchanging patterns of flame and glowing embers. The fireplace has always been the heart of the home, the place where family and friends gather for fellowship and conversation, for celebrations or simple, soul-satisfying memories. The beauty of a Fireplace Xtrordinair Classic or Artisan face surrounding the comforting fire just makes those magic moments more so.

What are the advantages of the Elite Series of Wood Burning Fireplaces? Let's look at heat output and heat distribution. Heat Output: The 36 Eite has a large 3.7 cubic foot firebox, solidly constructed of heavy steel, lined with refractory brick accepts logs to 24" length. The 36 Elite has a heat output range of 10,300 to 66,000 BTU's per hour. With high quality, seasoned hardwood and proper operation you may get up to 10 hours of burn time. The 44 Elite boasts a huge 4.3 cubic foot firebox that accepts logs up to 32" and produces 10,700 to 76,700 BTU's per hour. Heat Distribution: One of the unique design features of the Fireplace Xtrordinair is that it can be installed to draw filtered fresh air from outside the home for both combustion and heat transfer through a concept called 'Posi-Presure'. Posi-Pressure technology draws outside air into the cavity around the fireplace, heats it, and circulates it throughout the home via a quiet, yet powerful, 388 cubic feet per minute convection blower. The heated air naturally 'seeks out' and penetrates cold spaces, warming the entire home evenly while 'sealing' cracks, leaks and other drafty spots by preventing cold air infiltration. Wood Consumption: How much wood will it take to heat your home? There is no easy answer to that question because of the great extremes in climate across the U.S., becuase of variations in the size and insulation characteristics of homes and because of differences in how much a family burns the fireplace. You will obviously burn more wood in the northern tier of states than in southern areas. Wood consumption in cold climates can be 1 or 2 cords burned in fireplaces for supplemental heat or 3 or more cords for fireplaces used as a primary heater for an entire home over a heating season. Wood consumption is directly proportional to the temperature outside, the size of the home being heated, its insulation value and the amount of time that the fireplace is in operation. If you have even a small wood lot, you can manage it to supply your heating needs, a comforting thought, that in this time of high energy costs and uncertain availability, you can grow your own heat!
